For the past 20 years Lentil as Anything has been providing healthy food to Melbourne and Sydney, making sure those who cannot pay for a meal are able to share a table with those who can.
Now the whole community faces the common threat of COVID-19 and Lentil as Anything’s Food Without Borders food security program is providing chef-designed, nutritious and hygienically packed meals for those most in need. They have distributed over 12,000 meals in the past 3 months in partnership with a range of food relief, mental health and community
organisations.
Much of their produce is donated by local producers and outlets and all their programs are run by volunteers. They show that when a community works together to support each other, anything is possible.
Lentil as Anything’s food security program, Food Without Borders, and the Australia-Peru Chamber of Commerce have partnered to make sure that Peruvian nationals in Australia during the Covid-19 outbreak are not left without healthy, delicious food and access to connections with community throughout the pandemic. With the generous support of
the Australia-Peru Chamber of Commerce, Grupo Pastoral Don Bosco and a private donor, Lentil as Anything is supplying hot meals to Peruvian nationals from its Newtown restaurant, with plans for the scheme to be expanded to Melbourne. The financial support received will go towards purchasing produce for the meals, making sure there is always food on the table when someone is in need.
Anyone is welcome to visit Lentil as Anything’s restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne, for dine-in or take-away meals 7 days a week.
